Stargate Universe - Season 2, Episode 13 - Alliances

Stargate Universe Season 2 Episode 13 - Alliances
Greer and Camille are on Earth via the communication stones, and find themselves trapped when Homeworld Command is attacked.

Full Recap
On Destiny, Telford uses the communication stones to talk to Rush and Young. They explain that he was the only one who made it through the wormhole, and that his counterpart from the timeline was killed in an accident aboard the other Destiny. Telford seems to accept their explanation, and warns that Senator Michaels, the head of the off-world spending committee, wants to know if spending for another Icarus Base to send them supplies is justified.

Young briefs Camille, who wants to switch the bodies with Michaels so she can see for herself what the situation is on Destiny. She says that Michaels will be bringing another scientist, Dr. Andrew Covel, and proposes that Greer should provide the second body, since he's the only one who hasn't used the stones yet to go back to Earth. Young orders a reluctant Greer to do so.

On Earth, Camille and Greer find soldiers demanding their identification, despite the fact it's a scheduled transfer. Once they confirm they are who they say, Telford arrives to tell them that they're on a heightened state of alert because the Lucian Alliance is planning an attack on Homeworld command.

Eli and the scientists discuss Covel's arrival, and Rush notes that he worked with him briefly. He warns that Covel tended to keep secrets.

Michael and Covel meet with Young, and she asks if they've stopped trying to dial the Stargate from within a star. Rush overhears them talking as Michaels notes that she wasn't happy with how they lost the other Destiny. She wonders if Rush was lying, and notes that she suspects Rush because of what Young has said about him in his reports. Rush then comes in, and Michaels asks to see Chloe, a friend of the family.

On Earth, Telford and his security team check for radiation from naquadria bombs. When they prove clear, Telford says that they can both leave. Greer is reluctant to go, but Telford says they have it under control.

Rush takes Michaels and Covel to the bridge to see Chloe. As they talk privately, Covel offers his congratulations to Rush.

As Greer leaves, Camille catches up to him and tells him to relax. He complains that the Lucian Alliance is so close to Earth in part because they put their people at risk on Destiny to shelter them. An alarm goes off, and Greer drags Camille into an office just as a bomb goes off and the ceiling comes down on them.

Michaels tells Chloe that she spoke to her mother, and she's holding up. The senator apologizes for not getting Chloe home, and that she and Eli are different because they didn't sign up for the Stargate project. Michaels reminds Chloe that her father had plans for her, but now Chloe is stuck on Destiny.

Telford gets outside and orders his men to continue the evacuation. Inside, Camille digs herself out and tries to find Greer. He wakes up and he realizes that his knee is twisted. As Greer starts to free himself, more of the ceiling comes down. Camille uses packing tape to wrap Greer's knee

Rush plays Covel the recording of the structure signal, and Covel is impressed. However, he warns that he can't confirm it without a team of scientists working on it for five years. Rush notes that Covel turned down a position on Icarus, the one that Rush received, and Covel admits that he didn't believe in Rush's theories of the Ancients until now. He warns that the politicians will make hash of it if it involves the existence of God, and Rush blames him for trying to straddle both sides of the fence.

As Camille and Greer make their way out into the hallway, they find an airman, Evans, buried in the rubble. They free him and hear a radio crackling down the hallway. Camille goes to get it and finds another man, dead. Greer tells her to get his gun. When Evans wonders why they need it, Greer says they still don't know what happened. They use the radio to call Telford, who explains that a cloaked Lucian cargo ship hit near the comm lab where the stones are. He figures that it has a bomb on board and it hasn't gone off, and warns that Camille and the others have to get out before the bomb goes off.

Young and Scott take Michaels to the infirmary, where Johansen and Varro are working and joking together. Michaels talks to Johansen privately and suggests that she's not qualified as a medic to handle the wide range of medical emergencies. Johansen says that she's starting to get a handle on the Ancient's database. When Michaels suggests that bring a real doctor on board, Johansen warns that she won't get many volunteers.

Camille, Greer, and Evans try to get out and discover that the exit is blocked. Telford warns them that there is too much debris to get a bomb squad in, and that they're evacuating the immediate area. Camille figures that they have to disarm the bomb. Telford objects, but Camille warns that they don't have much of a choice.

Covel comes to see Eli and congratulates him on his reputation as a genius. Eli finally gets around to introducing Brody and Volker, and Covel asks them for their opinions on everything, including the signature.

As they head for the comm lab, Camille suggests they take a rest, but Greer insists on continuing. She tells him to stop pretending to be invincible, and he tells her to stop talking. Greer tells her that his problem is people that talk while nothing gets done. Camille figures that he's afraid of her because he won't admit he has a problem. Evans hears something and tells them to shut up. They find the technician who was using the Geiger counter to sweep the building. His arm is severed but the Geiger counter is intact. It's registering high levels of radiation, and Camille realizes that they're being exposed to deadly levels... and they're dead already.

Young asks Michaels for her assessment, and she says that it will take them at least six months to set up another Icarus base and dial out. Covel notes that they're not convinced that Destiny will survive that long, and that it's a wonder they've survived so long. The ship prepares to drop out of FTL, and Young warns that there will be a brief interruption in the communication stone link.

Camille worries that they endangered their borrowed bodies, but Greer says it was the right choice. Evans starts to panic and says that Camille is no scientist, and she could be wrong about their chances. As Destinyjump out of FTL, Camille and Greer are back in their own bodies. Camille quickly tries to tell Young what is happening, and then she ends up back in her own body. Evans grabs a knife and holds it to her throat.

Once Michaels and Stewart tell Young what happened, Young prepares to shut down the communication stones so they can get more information. However, when they switch off the stones, Michaels and Covel remain in Camille's and Greer's bodies.

Camille warns Greer that it's a trick and that Evans is a Lucian Alliance spy. She grabs Evans' arm, distracting him long enough for Greer to shoot him dead. Camille explains that Evans knew she wasn't a scientist despite the fact she never said otherwise. They figure that the plan was to land the ship, cloaked, and Evans would just walk away. Greer congratulates her on figuring out that Evans was a spy, and they head toward the comm lab.

Rush determines that the stones are paired, and have to be shut off at both ends. The interference from the radiation is preventing the cutoff command signal at the other end. Covel goes to work trying to break through the interference. Meanwhile, Varro comes to see them and says that he can help by telling them how to defuse the bomb.

Camille and Greer find the Lucian cargo ship and get inside. The bomb is in the cargo hold, and Camille tries to contact Telford. The radiation is interfering with the signal, cutting them off.

Varro explains how to defuse the bomb, warning that it will have to be done by touch because it has a hologram shell. Young wonders how they can trust him, and Varro insists that if he had known about the attack, he would have warned them. Johansen says she trusts him, but Young isn't impressed. Eli says that they only need a few seconds to explain the defusing process, and they propose making a brief FTL jump to break the connection so they can brief Camille and Greer.

With no idea how much time they have, Camille reaches through the hologram shell and finds the bomb underneath. However, neither one of them have any idea what to do.

Chloe finds Michaels, who is reluctant to trust Varro's word. She complains that her own people warned her against coming to Destiny, and Chloe insists that in the other timeline, Rush told her that she stayed to complete the mission to track the signature.

Camille realizes that she has no idea how to defuse the bomb. She and Greer find themselves back in their own bodies, and Varro quickly talks them through the procedure. Once Michaels and Covel are back, Rush calls Young to the communication lab.

Greer and Camille try to defuse the bomb, but they realize that they both missed hearing the last step.

Rush explains that the command frequencies are embedded in the mind transfer signal, and they can shut down the connection at any time. He notes that Covel sabotaged their efforts. The scientist admits that he saw the Geiger counter when he went back, and he panicked and sabotaged the shutdown to buy himself time. Covel insists that Greer and Camille had no problem taking the risks because they weren't in their bodies. Michaels asks for Young to bring Varro down so he can tell them the defusing procedures. When Covel says that he's not going back, Young tells him that he doesn't have a choice.

Greer wants to keep working on the bomb, but Camille says that every second they keep the bomb from going off is another second for Telford to get everyone else to safety. The sergeant accepts that there's nothing they can do and sits down. Camille apologies for not getting along better with Greer, and admits that she likes to talk things through. Greer says that they're not going anywhere, so they should talk. She can't come up with anything else to say, and they both laugh.

Varro shows Michaels what to do. She tells Young that she's ready, but asks him to tell Chloe that she's proud of her. Rush cuts the signal and Michaels and Vogel are in their own bodies. The senator goes to the bomb and defuses it.

On Destiny a few hours later, Camille joins Greer on the observation deck. They haven't acquired a new connection on the communication stones yet. Greer starts making small talk with Camille about her significant other, Sharon, He admits that he's been thinking about the situation between him and his mom, and how she never wanted him to join the military. Camille assures him that his mother understands, and then says that soon he'll be able to tell his mother everything that needs to be said.
